Lesson
H2 Move from a Small Trial to Continued Operation
After One Successful Run, the Questions Change
A sample run asks whether a particular dataset and configuration produce a result. Ongoing use also asks when data updates, who confirms objectives, how invalid inputs are handled, who receives results and how environment changes are checked. Resolving these questions connects an exercise to operational work.
Create an Operating Checklist
| Area | Define |
|---|---|
| Data updates | Sources, frequency, cutoff and completeness checks |
| Configuration | Objective, rule and recipe versions and change permissions |
| Environment | Components, dependencies, authorization and resource limits |
| Result approval | Reviewers, timing and adoption conditions |
| Exceptions | Notifications, manual continuation and rerun conditions |
| Records | Input version, configuration differences, status and conclusions |
DecisioWorks provides data, execution, analysis and linkage capabilities. Applications and teams connect them to their update and approval processes. Release upgrades, model changes and new rules need representative-case checks to preserve existing behavior.
Expand on Evidence
Start with a defined decision and limited period. Confirm data, results and business interpretation before increasing order volume, resources or rule types. Record each new condition so changes remain explainable.
| Finding | Next choice |
|---|---|
| Data, model and business review agree | Consider expanding to a similar scope |
| Execution works but objectives are unclear | Improve measures and review first |
| Essential data or resource links are missing | Complete the representation |
| The capability does not fit the problem structure | Choose another model or design adaptation |
Keep Changes Traceable
Suppose a night shift is added. Update calendars or capacity and confirm staffing, maintenance and material supply. If the shift is already reflected in capacity, do not multiply the total by shift count again in the application. Keep before-and-after inputs and results and inspect what work the added shift actually takes.
Continued operation adapts to change rather than preserving one parameter set forever. Retain useful definitions, update changed facts and confirm important trade-offs.
Exercise and Review
Design a weekly sequence: data cutoff, checks, execution, review, adoption and recording. Add a branch for late material data.
State when to wait, use a confirmed version or request human judgment. Keep unknown material quantities distinct from confirmed availability. Produce a one-page checklist a colleague can follow.
Carry Learning into Use
Scenario briefs, checks, recipes and result records remain useful in regular operation. Each review can add a confirmed fact or a new check, allowing enterprise experience to accumulate around the toolkit's capabilities.
